5 Ways to Motivate Yourself Toward Goals

I've come to the realization that the year 2015 is more than half over. That's crazy! Am I the only one that feels like it was just New Years Eve like a month ago? So how are your resolutions going? Maybe you've gone far and beyond your expectations and that's awesome! Or maybe you've completely given up. Possibly somewhere in-between. No matter what the situation, you can always find ways to re-motivate yourself to try again. Below are some ways that I use to motivate myself even when I just feel like snoozing.

1. BANISH NEGATIVE NELLY THOUGHTS

It's easy to think negative nelly-ish thoughts, but try to become more aware of the negative thoughts. Every time you think something negative, think of two positives. It's definitely easier said than done, but with practice, you will be able to silence the negatives and focus on the positives.

2. SET A BOOM GOAL

Never heard of a boom goal? A boom goal is a goal with a deadline. Deadlines can make goal-setting interesting. This turns your goal into a battle against yourself. You start thinking "can I actually do this?" It puts pressure on yourself to get shiz done. If you work well under pressure, this tip might work best for you.

3. POSITIVE VISUALIZATION
Think about what you want and why you want to get there. Maybe write it down in a journal or just lay back and think about it before bed. By keeping your goal embedded into your brain, you subconsciously give yourself a nudge in the right direction. If you're trying to lose weight, imagine fitting into an old pair of jeans or strutting down the beach in a bikini. If you're trying to be more confident, imagine yourself the way you eventually want to and will be in the future.

4. CREATE A GOAL JOURNAL
If you're artsy or wordsy, this might be the tip for you. I personally love journaling and I'll use any excuse to buy a new notebook or a pack of pens. You could set one goal or many goals and check in weekly or daily. Do what works for you and don't take it too seriously. By having a fun outlet to think about your goals, you will begin to associate fun and positivity with the idea that your goals will eventually become a reality.

5. "QUOTES FOR DAYS"
Who doesn't love a good quote? Haha maybe it's just me, but a really good quote will put me in the mood to be productive. Sometimes it just takes the right set of words and bam, I'm game for anything. If words aren't your thing, maybe you could find motivating pictures or music: whatever suits your fancy.
